"As theatre artists, we believe that the theatre arts can be a powerful development tool. Theatre in its holistic perspective provides a whole gamut of wonderful and exciting learning services. The theatre arts experience is so fulfilling that the process becomes joyous of self-development." - Dr. Anita Navaro
I had the privilege of organizing an event for Dr. Anita Navarro, the mother of all Drama majors at Philippine Normal University, to celebrate her retirement and birthday at the same time. It was an exciting opportunity for me since I love organizing events, and most especially, Ma'am Navs so dear to me. We all love her so much!
Prof. Shirley Cerbo asked me to gather all the STA majors from the pioneer batch up to the present, which made me even more excited. With the help of my two wonderful friends and batchmates, Oshin and Jet, we were able to gather all of the batches from 2002 to the present. Oshin helped me find the best venue, catering services, and pastry chef for Dr. Navarro's cake, while Jet took care of the aesthetics, including souvenirs, invitations, and creative ideas for the event proper.
By the grace of God, we were able to come up with good results, and we would like to thank the following for making the event happen:
Thanks to everyone's cooperation and support, the event went smoothly, and we would like to express our gratitude to all who made it happen. Dr. Anita Navarro expressed her appreciation as well, saying, "We, as educators, desire to offer skills development for better opportunities in the future of our children. We believe that our initiative and creative strategy would be of great help in the pursuit of development."
By the way, Dr. Navarro needs our help right now. She needs two bags of Type A+ blood. If you can donate, you can go directly to the Red Cross Intramuros and tell them that it's for a direct patient, Anita Navarro. If you are not Type A+, that's okay because the Red Cross is willing to trade your donated blood for the blood Dr. Navarro needs. Your help is much appreciated.
I am truly happy that this once-in-a-lifetime event went successfully. The stress and hard work in preparing for it were all worth it when I saw Dr. Navarro enjoying the party. This event is a legacy, and it wouldn't have been possible without everyone's help, even those who are abroad.
